Dannevirke is is out in rural NZ. This is the house we stayed in. Lots of sheep and cattle. Below is a picture of Paul.
Member house, that Elder Cowley lived in while serving as President of NZ and South Pacific Area.The first LDS Chapel on this ide of the island. Circa 1910.
0.Lynnette’s Mum and Dad. He was the first Bishop in Dannevirke. This Chapel was deserted in 1958 and was given back to the Maoris in the area. It still has the pews and books and pulpit just as it was left. It is open any time for anyone to see. Below is an old women, 87 yrs. old. that spends her time taking care of the building grounds. She has seen the area grow and then slowly disappear. this is a part of NZ history that is slowly being lost. Elder Cowley’s pictures line the walls of the building.
This the town of Napier, a small town of Art Deco building that were built here after the earthquake of 1935. While driving here we learned about the long drop and dunny.This is Pania of the reef.
Lake Taupo, huge lake that appears to be as large as the ocean. It fills an old volcanic crater. There is a floating golf hole off the shore, that if you get a hole in one you will receive 10,000$. Rick tried, but no cigar. Flat Stanley made it here though.
