Cedar Creek Grist Mill

Mom and I went to Woodland WA. and visited the Cedar Creek Grist Mill. It is run by a water powered turbine that was placed in the creek in 1876. We watched them mill corn and wheat. Learned that the Indians ground grain with rocks. Milling is when the stones turn and mill the grain. The original stones are still being used, and came from France around 1875. They have not got one crack in them. The Mill was a wreck until 1980 when someone decided to save it. The building was pretty much gone. They were not going to rebuild until they noticed a shaft coming out of a cement silo. They pulled the one ton turbine out and found that it was still in good condition. After some research they found that the company who had built it was still in business. They replaced the worn parts with stainless steel and put it back in the hole. It worked like a charm.Cedar Creek Grist Mill 175Cedar Creek Grist Mill 176Cedar Creek Grist Mill 177Cedar Creek Grist Mill 178Cedar Creek Grist Mill 179Cedar Creek Grist Mill 180Cedar Creek Grist Mill 181Cedar Creek Grist Mill 182Cedar Creek Grist Mill 183Cedar Creek Grist Mill 184Cedar Creek Grist Mill 185

Brandon painted the family walls and crown molding. I replaced all the baseboard before he started and it looks great.
