It's Christmas Eve and the snow continues. We now set a record for the most continuous snow since 1967. How could you ask for a more memorable christmas than this. Here is a little movie that I made up of today's fun so far.

About 28 years have past since a snowfall like this. 28 years ago I pulled my kids down the driveway in a wooden milk case. Now my children are pulling my grandchildren down their driveways in recycling bins. This year the weather people are calling this weather situation an "Arctic Blast". We just don't get this cold that often. I'm so glad for global warming. It could be a lot worse.

We thought it would be fun to drive up the Columbia Gorge last weekend, and decided to stop at Hamilton Mt. for a hike. The weather was not too cold and we thought it would be a fun little 2-3 mile outing. We packed our lunch and took the dog (who never gets tired). It was a great afternoon and a beautiful view.

"One Potato" Thanksgiving

We had a quiet Thanksgiving this year since all our children were at their in-laws for dinner.
Verne thought we would only need one potato for our small dinner, I just didn't know it would be the size of a football. So this was our "one potato" Thanksgiving. We had fun keeping up Brandon's tradition of going bowling, oh did I mention he couldn't come because he was working? It was fun and this year MaryLeigh threw a few balls too. One went very slow down the neighbors lane and had to be retrieved by "Big Al" So fun

Halloween is here BOOOOOOO!

We had a great time at Lindsi and Casey's for Halloween. All the kids and grandkids were there except Heidi's clan. They were really wired. We had a really good chili and mud pie for dinner. Of course we can not forget all the goons and goblins. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

October is gone

This is the most beautiful October I have ever seen in Vancouver. The trees have been electric, just glowing with beauty. We have been busy re landscaping the yard. It seems there is always a new project to do.

Soccer and Pumpkins

Saturday the 4th of Oct. we had fun watching Brooklyn and Olivia's games. After we came to the barn and had donuts and apple cider. The kids picked out the pumkins they wanted and NO MESS IN THE HOUSE. Fun Saturday.

Yard Projects

From the garden I took a large leaf and made a concrete sculputure. It was really easy to do. I copied some instructions on how to make your own. Kinda fun! Verne and I wanted to make a waterfall this year and verne just went with the idea. We still need to fine tune it but since the rain is here we might make this a Spring project. Stay tune for the final. results.

Rhubarb patch kids

Look what we found in the "RHUBARB PATCH" I read that you can freeze rhubarb and so we will, and have "Strawberry Rhubarb Pie" for Thanksgiving. Sooooo, I will freeze the rhubarb and cuddle the cutie pies in the patch. Both ideas are yummy!!!!

From the HEN HOUSE

We are so EGG-cited to be raising chickens again! This time we kicked it up a notch and asked Logan to help. Lucy and the girls will really like their news DIGS and their perch. This will be our contribution to going GREEN. We waste no food. The chicken bucket goes out every day and Lucy and the girls love it. In return, "FARM FRESH EGGS"

Favorite Summer Things

Verne and I both love yard work and gardens, and I must say, Verne is, "out standing"
in his field!!

We have so many marion berries this year we have been making pies and also freezing the berries.

from the garden a favorite is the berries. our new recipe we've named "Maion Blue Pie" Useing your favorite Blackberry Pie recipe; you substitute 1/2 of the berries with equal part blueberries. (not so many seeds) Instead of useing flour as a thinkening; use the same amount of quick tapioca. This pie will taste amazing.

From the book shelf I am reading a classic,

A Tale of two Cites
"It was the best of times, it was the worst
of times." I think it is important that some
of these classic books are read; they never grow
old.

From the Church I was so excited to read the
Aug. Ensign and find out that Pres. Monson has
announced plans for three new temples in Arizona.
This brings the worldwide total to 140 temples.

Amazing at 80

Aug. 7th is grandpa's birthday and the 8th is Grandma's.

Verne and I went to Boise to celebrate!!! Grandpa had been working on his personal life history and has completed it to this point in his life. His immediate children received a copy to read and cherish. We went to a city park and had lunch and played "Grandma and Grandpa trivia", to see who knew them the best. They have really packed a lot of life into their 80 years.

Words to live by... Let the husband make the
wife sorry to see him leave,
and let the wife make the
husband glad to be home.
( Martin Luther)
We had a wonderful visit!!!

Reunion 2008

Heidi, Ryan and the kids came to Vancouver for the 2nd annual Verne and Lori May reunion. Last year we had 6 grand-babies. This year we had 10! (oh Baby) They stayed for 2 weeks and we always have fun when they come to visit.

Lindsi was in charge of the reunion this year and she and Heidi made our family shirt to go along with this years Olympics in China. So it was the May family olympics 2008. Casey ran the games and races. I must say they did a fantastic job!!!

Grandma's store was well stocked, and the grand-kids were on their best behavior in order to shop with the tickets I gave them.

The skits and songs for the opening ceremonies were great. Brooklyn sang her own composed song called "ocean ocean" and she also sang a song useing all the names of the 10 grand-children in their birth order. What talent!!! Ashley's sack game is a favorite, and will be each year, I think. Her new game in which we suck up M & M's in a straw was a hit also.
