Favorite Summer Things

Verne and I both love yard work and gardens, and I must say, Verne is, "out standing"
in his field!!

We have so many marion berries this year we have been making pies and also freezing the berries.

from the garden a favorite is the berries. our new recipe we've named "Maion Blue Pie" Useing your favorite Blackberry Pie recipe; you substitute 1/2 of the berries with equal part blueberries. (not so many seeds) Instead of useing flour as a thinkening; use the same amount of quick tapioca. This pie will taste amazing.

From the book shelf I am reading a classic,

A Tale of two Cites
"It was the best of times, it was the worst
of times." I think it is important that some
of these classic books are read; they never grow
old.

From the Church I was so excited to read the
Aug. Ensign and find out that Pres. Monson has
announced plans for three new temples in Arizona.
This brings the worldwide total to 140 temples.

Amazing at 80

Aug. 7th is grandpa's birthday and the 8th is Grandma's.

Verne and I went to Boise to celebrate!!! Grandpa had been working on his personal life history and has completed it to this point in his life. His immediate children received a copy to read and cherish. We went to a city park and had lunch and played "Grandma and Grandpa trivia", to see who knew them the best. They have really packed a lot of life into their 80 years.

Words to live by... Let the husband make the
wife sorry to see him leave,
and let the wife make the
husband glad to be home.
( Martin Luther)
We had a wonderful visit!!!

Reunion 2008

Heidi, Ryan and the kids came to Vancouver for the 2nd annual Verne and Lori May reunion. Last year we had 6 grand-babies. This year we had 10! (oh Baby) They stayed for 2 weeks and we always have fun when they come to visit.

Lindsi was in charge of the reunion this year and she and Heidi made our family shirt to go along with this years Olympics in China. So it was the May family olympics 2008. Casey ran the games and races. I must say they did a fantastic job!!!

Grandma's store was well stocked, and the grand-kids were on their best behavior in order to shop with the tickets I gave them.

The skits and songs for the opening ceremonies were great. Brooklyn sang her own composed song called "ocean ocean" and she also sang a song useing all the names of the 10 grand-children in their birth order. What talent!!! Ashley's sack game is a favorite, and will be each year, I think. Her new game in which we suck up M & M's in a straw was a hit also.

Summer 2008

Two grand-babies were born the month of May. On May 9th Evelyn and May 10th Cody. The hospital was buzing with the aunts, uncles, cousins, moms, dads, brothers, and sisters, and of course grandmas and grandpas.

While the new mommies were recooperating with the new babes, the dads took the kids to "DOZER DAYS" You can see they had a great day, it was one of the hottest days of the month. Dirt seems to stick better on sweaty skin.
In June, Baby Baylor made his appearance. On June 4th the hospital was buzing again with a new baby.
Father's Day was really special but, of couse, the babies took center stage!

March 2008

I drove to Heidi's house and took her some furniture. Verne, Logan, and Ashley flew and met me there. We visited Pres. Hinckley's grave, the old Tabernacle, the Beehive house, and the dinosaur park. Verne and Cohen had to really move to out run the T-REX

January 2008

Heidi and the kids came to Vancouver, and of course the boys wanted to ride the John Deer. Nathan's broken leg didn't stop him a bit.
